Mike Shinbein brings legal and accounting training (J.D.; CPA, inactive) and 25+ years of experience to the pay decisions that carry the most risk. He began in audit at Deloitte and tax at KPMG, then consulted on executive compensation and benefits at Hewitt Associates (now Aon), TBG Financial (now Prudential Financial), and Grant Thornton.In corporate roles he built or launched total rewards functions four times: at The WhiteWave Foods Company, Frontdoor (NASDAQ: FTDR), SoftBank Vision Fund–backed Alto Pharmacy, and Supernal, a Hyundai Motor Group company. He presented to the Board Compensation Committees of WhiteWave and Frontdoor. After Danone acquired WhiteWave, he led pay, benefits, and HR platform harmonization for the 6,500-employee organization that became Danone North America, including a vendor consolidation that saved about $5 million in its first year. At Hewlett-Packard he led equity program strategy for more than 300,000 employees in about 80 countries.Through MSS Rewards Consulting, founded in 2023, he has served as interim total rewards leader for a global, family-owned company and as an expert witness on executive compensation, including deposition and trial testimony.Mike is National Chair of the Private Directors Association Membership Council and Board Member and Treasurer of STEM Generation. He has spoken at NACD Colorado, the Private Directors Association, the Colorado Bar Association, WorldatWork, RMTRA, and DisruptHR Denver.
